Facilities/House Rules

We have prepared the following information to help you get the most out of your stay and to help you understand ‘what’s what’ with the house. Please look after and respect the house during your stay and kindly observe the following house guidelines. This will ensure that the house is looked after by all our visitors and enable your stay to be as enjoyable as possible.

ARRIVAL

We hope you have had a good journey and found the house easily- when you arrive all bed linen will be placed along with towels on each bed. Extra linen (for emergency purposes!) is stored on the shelves in the cupboard on the upper hall landing.

HEATING

The heating is on a timer to come on in the morning and evening if set to auto. If you would like it on at any other time press the control switch once and the heat will stay on until the next preset time. .The control panel is located in the kitchen just behind the microwave.

NO SMOKING POLICY

Please note that the house is a no smoking zone. There are some ashtrays located in the kitchen cupboards should you wish to smoke outside. (Please do not drop cigarette stubs outside!).

SECURITY

Please ensure the house is locked at all times and ensure that you close all windows when you are out of the house.

NEIGHBOURS

We have built good relationships with our neighbours, all of whom are very friendly, so please help us retain this!

GAMES/ENTERTAINMENTS

Please feel free to enjoy the range of games, books, DVDs and CDs during your visit but again ensure these are left for the next guest’s arrival. The DVD can be used for CDs. Games are in the cupboard in the lounge. In the cupboard in the back porch you can find an iron, board, vacuum cleaner, and clothes rack. Hairdryers can be found in upstairs bedroom cupboard.

FIRE AND WOOD

Before lighting the fire in the lounge and dining room, please make sure the vent is open. The vents are located at the bottom of both the wood burning stoves. These air vent also dictate how fast the wood burns. Make sure you use only wood – you will find the fire is very warm and a great source of heat in the room but it should not be overloaded. In addition, no cardboard or rubbish should be used on the fire, and please ensure that you keep the doors of the wood burning stove shut at all times during use. Keep small children away as the stoves become very hot to touch. There will be logs available for your usage. The fires can be lit without lighters but it is easier if you use these. There is paper available to get the fires started.

SKY TV

The Sky TV package includes entertainment and kids.

WASHING MACHINE

You will only need one scoopful of powder in the washing machine, as the water is very soft, just select the setting required. There is an economy setting which is a quicker wash..

REFUSE

Bin day is a Wednesday before 8am. Just place the rubbish bags in the wheelie bin and put this outside the gate for collection.
